Michel Martelly's Triple Nationality In Question By Senator M. Jean-Charles

Toulimen Legrand - January 9 2012, 3:02 PM

According to Senator Moise Jean-Charles, Mr. Martelly is currently holding three nationalities, which are U.S., Italy and Haiti.

Mr. Jean-Charles wants the Haitian Senate to accuse Mr. Martelly and put him on trial for that. Is Mr. Moise Jean-Charles right?

Of course, he is right if his sources are funded based on the last Duvalierist Constitution as written by Dr. Louis Roy, the oncle of Veronique Roy, the current girlfriend of Jean-Claude Duvalier.

Is it the right time to do so?

I will say no. Should we allow Senator Jean-Charles to trouble a country like that after 25 years of abject and insane poverty?

The answer to this question is no. Should we continue to accept this Constitution/Constipation to take away our Haitian citizenship because we are living overseas?

The answer is no.

What should the president do at this time?

Should he close down the Haitian Congress to organize new elections like Duvalier Francois had done it in the past?

Should he write a new law on Haiti's multiple nationalities to allow all of us to hold offices in Haiti?

Should they redefine the Haitian Nationality?

What are your thoughts?

I believe that the Haitian Nationality should be redefined this way:

1.All Haitians born from both Haitian parents are Haitians for life.

2. All Haitians born from one Haitian parent are Haitians for life unless they decide otherwise.

3. Haitians born anywhere in the world from Haitian parents are Haitians for life unless they decide otherwise.

4. Haitian citizenship is forever once born from one or both Haitian parent(s) and Haitian citizenship can be only withdrawn or eliminated by death.

Was Duvalierist Louis Roy right to deny Haitians who are living overseas their citizenship rights?

Do we need a new constitution?

Should they appoint Duvalierists like Jean-Claude Duvalier and Francois Nicolas Duvalier II to rewrite the Haitian Constitution?

Should Martelly get rid of those Duvalierists within his political cabinet?

Do you think Nicolas Duvalier II will succeed Martelly?

Answer the above questions and criticize me too...

The debate is open in all three languages.

Don't be too passionate about Haitian politics and nothing will change for real in Haiti. With Martelly, a non politician, Haiti can move a little bit forward. We will see a few things accomplished because the Haitian elites are helping him. Haiti i more »

My biggest problem with the Martelli administration, is that the judiciary system is very corrumpt. The judges are determined to do anything for money. Example: franklin montinat an uneducated man an alcoholic who doesn't know anything about the law more »
