Intellectual Property in Haiti in the 21st century

G. De L. - June 16 2011, 5:36 AM

Mr. President,

As an artist, I am sure that, at some points in your carrer, you have personally been concerned by what is available or what has been hapenning in the field of intellectual property in Haiti.

You may know that the country is not armed to allow its citizen to efficiently protect and enforce (if need be), their copyrights, trademarks, inventions and other forms of work of arts which may require protection at both the national and international levels.

Equally, the non-existance of functioning IP structures and legislations in the country prevents foreigners from making investment in Haiti.

In the region we are completely behind.

I have been furtunate to have had to opportunity of dealing with intellectual property matters internationally over the past 10 years, and I would be more than happy to share some experiences with you or with a selected member of your team at your conveneince.

It is known that your hands are full of challenges and to face them you would need a lot of courage, good health and determination.

Hope to hear from you soon.
